Soccer in the Streets

This is a copy of an email I sent out. If you did not get it, please read on. This is a very important cause to me!

Hi Everyone!
Everyone who knows me knows that I am not an email forwarder or do not solicit through email. This is a rarity for me, but this is for a good cause and more importantly, for my big sis! My sister, Jill, works for a non-profit organization in Atlanta, Ga. It is called, Soccer in the Streets. She has been with this program for a number of years and has dedicated her life to helping the inner-city kids have a better shot in life. I am extremely proud of her for her selfless devotion to this organization. I have seen it in action and it is amazing! I am not asking for any money, just a little time. There is a website called Kudzu.com. (the link is at the bottom) It will earmark funds to a non-profit organization for people who write reviews for businesses in a particular city. I figure I am passing this on to 55 people. At .75 each that would be about $42, but if you did 2 or 3 it really starts to add up. So, just hop on and start giving your favorite restaurants, medical providers, shops, etc your good words and everyone can win!

Jill explains it best:

The lifeblood of any nonprofit organization is the many individual donors that contribute to provide the monetary resources that are required to keep the lights on, so to speak. The kids we touch everyday need to know that we're going to be there years into the future - to see them through elementary, middle and high school, and now into college. Not everyone has the means to give cash donations. And time is also precious. So how better to offer people a way to support a deserving charity than to ask them to do something that only costs a little bit of time and leverages it to get cash from a corporate entity, like Cox Communications (parent company of Kudzu)?Kudzu needs exposure to their service (so that they can cover the US, like kudzu - the ubiquitous greenery of the South), charities like us need cash donations and individuals like you and your friends would like to help their community (especially kids!) with limited means in a economically precarious time. This joint effort is a win-win-win and most important, win for the kids that wouldn't have the opportunities and exposure that our program offers.
Some of the kids that have been touched by the program:

* Lauren DuBois, who started in our program at 7, just graduated from high school with honors and was the first female in her school to receive a full-ride scholarship to play soccer at Mississippi Valley State University.* Juan Bollo and his peers from the program in Sandy Springs are now attending Riverwood High School and proudly state that they have stayed out of the gangs that infest their neighborhood because they want to do well in school and continue playing soccer.* Darnell Westmoreland has overcome countless challenges - losing his mother when he was 12, living with an alcoholic father, being homeless due to a house fire during the past school year, academic challenges in dealing with a learning disability, to name a few. He tells everyone how soccer has helped him to keep his focus throughout all of his difficulties and hopes to attend college and possibly play professionally someday. He's already had trials with a top Mexican club and currently plays with a local elite club.To put it simply, if you can write a review, you can change a life.
