Such a Shame...

It is such a shame that these two buddies live so far apart.

With faces like these, you could only imagine the good times they could have together!

Planes for the Boy

Even as a tiny baby, Evan had his eyes to the sky. He loves airplanes. I would look in the backseat and see a little, tiny baby finger pointing to the sky from his infant carrier. When he got a little older, one of his first words was, "pah-pane." There are certain shopping areas around town that fall under the flight path and the airplanes fly low as they approach McCarran airport. He will stop, mouth wide open and watch them go overhead. His vocab has graduated to, "Airplane! Wow, a big one! Awesome!" What can I say, the boy loves airplanes!

While we were visiting Grandma and Grandpa Baker, we went to the air field to see some of the retired planes from Edwards Air Force Base. Not only did we get to see airplanes, but experienced some family history, too. Jason's Grandpa worked at Skunk Works and was part of building of the Blackbird SR-71. We learned something, but most of all it was airplane nirvana for the boy!

I think this picture explains it all... as Jason talked to Norah, Evan just sat there and lovingly stroked the real life plane.

The plane that Grandpa Durham built

A pretty sweet airplane- the F-117 (a.k.a Stealth Fighter) 646mph (a.k.a super fast!) Once while visiting, Jason pointed one out to me in the sky. I looked away for a second and then back and it was gone like it had never been there. Amazing!

1 engine is taller than 1 four year old

When we walked up to this one, Evan stopped dead in his tracks and said, "Wooooaaahh, now that's a big one!"

This was the kitty plane (look at the Felix picture in the background)
It really is a F-14 Tomcat

Happy Easter!

In all the craziness of the Easter bunny and trying to remember the true meaning of why we celebrate Easter... I came across this blog on one of my favorite blogs, The Meanest Mom. It had me shedding humble tears and made me greatful for the hand I have been delt. A true miracle and a perfect tie in to what Easter is found here.

Impromptu Disney

We had been planning on planning a Disneyland trip for awhile, but plans just never seemed to fall into place. Finally, we just decided, packed and left. I love a little spontaneity and the kids didn't even have any time to ask, over and over, how many days until Disneyland. It was a quiet Thursday afternoon, short lines, perfect weather and SO much fun. Please indulge me while I share a few highlights!

The first request was the carousel. Yes, Evan insisted on the too big sunglasses.

Next stop: Dumbo!
Norah loved being in control of our Dumbo and made it go to the very tip top and then back down!

A little monkey peaking over his Dumbo!

We stopped for lunch and Evan spent his lunch break dancing to the man playing Ragtime on the piano. He drew quite an audience and the man playing ate it up!
(This is his I am not trying to be funny, but I know I am silly pose)

Probably the most favorite of all, Small World

Pure amazement!

This was the prep for meeting the princesses. It did not go real smoothly. I gave stern warnings that if I waited in line for over an hour, she better not freeze up and not get close to the princesses.

Then after a long wait- and Norah waited ever so patiently, she got to personally meet the princess'! She complemented Aurora's "beautiful pink dress" and there were hugs all around!

The pièce de résistance: Cinderella!

Topsy, turvey on the teacups!

The faster, the better!

What can be better for the boys? Shooting like Buzz Lightyear!

What parade?
The parade came and Evan sat the whole time admiring his new Lightning McQueen atop daddy's shoulders.
